Hawaiian Airlines is adding a third weekly flight on the Honolulu-Pago Pago route from May 22 to September 4.
The additional flight will operate on Wednesday.
Spokesman for Hawaiian Airline Alex Da Silva told KHJ News that bookings remain strong, and the additional flights “ensure we have adequate capacity to meet demand.”
In addition to graduations here and off island, family reunions and vacations, church conferences also add to increased traffic on the Honolulu Pago Pago route during the summer months.
This year is also the biennial conference of the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa, which brings large delegations from across the United States to the territory.
Other destinations that Hawaiian Airlines is increasing flights to are Austin, Boston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
“Travelers will enjoy more options and convenient schedules as they plan their summer travel to and from the islands,” said Brent Overbeek, senior vice president and chief revenue officer at Hawaiian Airlines.
“This is also the first year we will offer a fourth daily HNL-LAX flight, which reflects the strong demand for our brand in Southern California.”
