Hawaiian Air Thursday flight forced to return to Honolulu

Hawaiian Airlines Thursday night flight, didn’t arrive at Pago Pago International Airport until after 5 this morning.

According to passengers, they were in the air for nearly two hours when they were informed the flight would return to Honolulu because of an air conditioning problem.

Passengers said all the shops and restaurants at the airport had closed when they arrived back at Honolulu International.

Hawaiian gave out small bags of pretzels and water.

The flight to Pago Pago left Honolulu Airport at midnight.

Meanwhile, passengers for last night’s flight to Honolulu were told about the delay as some were checking in.

Hawaiian Air announced that check-in counters would open at 2:00am and passengers were told the flight to Honolulu would be departing at 6:50, this morning.

Security checkpoints, meanwhile, opened at 3:30am and closed at 5:30am.

Hawaiian Air spokesman Alex Da Silva said an issue with the cabin temperature forced the flight from Honolulu to return last night, after two hours in the air

He said meals were served on board prior to the flight returning to Honolulu Airport.

“Safety is our priority and we apologize to our guests for the inconvenience,” Da Silva stated.

The Hawaiian Air flight to Honolulu departed Pago Pago International Airport at 7:10 this morning.
