Let’s hear it for our power lifting team at the Pacific Games. Justin Pedro grabbed a silver medal in the men’s 120 kg+ event and John Ioane snatched the bronze. Samoa won the gold.
It was a proud moment at the awards ceremony last night when both the American Samoa and Samoa flags were displayed at the podium.
Malo lava for your efforts Justin and John, and kudos to team managers Sala McMoore and Peter Reid III.
That brings our medal tally to 8: 3 silver and 5 bronze.
Our Men’s 3×3 Basketball team defeated Samoa 21-13 yesterday, however, they lost to New Caledonia 22-6. Today at 6:55pm, they play the Marshall Islands.
And our girl in javelin, Princess Spitzenberg made it the Top 8. Her best throw for the event was 34.18 meters, which beats her record of 30.78 meters.
Under the coaching of her dad, Will Spitzenberg and Manager, Mom Sisi, Princess will be a name to watch for future Pacific Games.
Other than the 3×3 Men’s Basketball, the only other competition left for Team American Samoa is high and triple jump, in which Brandon Solaita is competing today.
The closing ceremony for the 2023 Pacific Games will be held tomorrow.
