
The 75th anniversary of the American Samoa Legislature will be commemorated in a ceremony at the Lee Auditorium at 10, tomorrow (Thursday) morning.
Rev. Elder Faaeteete Saifoloi of the CCCAS Amaluia will lead a prayer service with Rev. Faalili Otineru of the CCCAS Fagalii giving the Bible reading and sermon.
Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga will give an address and the special guest speaker is Fofo Sunia, a former director of the Legislative Reference Bureau who compiled the history of the Fono’s first 50 years.
The Fono’s address will be delivered by Senate President Tuaolo Manaia Fruean, while House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale will lead the ceremony.
Jubilee gifts will be distributed to VIP guests and there will also be cultural presentations. Entertainment will be provided by Leone High School, winners of the Mosooi Festival Siva competition and Youth from Talalelei o le Faaolataga Church. A luncheon will also be held.
Joining local dignitaries for the celebration are Samoa’s Deputy Prime Minister Tuala Iosefo Ponifasio and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Auapaau Mulipola Aloitafua.
Fono leaders, senators and representatives are receiving special 75th anniversary gifts such as watches, rings, lapel pins and 2 sets of formal jackets/coats.
