
Swimmer Micah Masei won American Samoa’s second medal at the Pacific Games last night, a bronze, in the 100 meter breaststroke.
Micah swam a strong race against a tough heat and achieved a seasonal best of 1:05.80, which is on track for his preparations for the Paris Olympics next year.
Federated States of Micronesia won gold with a time of 1:03.60, and New Caledonia won silver with 1:05.36.
In the preliminary heat, Micah’s time was 1:07.18.
In an interview with Faafua Cummings after the race, Micah said it had been an honor to swim for American Samoa and was thankful for all the support he received.

And that wraps up Micah’s competitions in Honiara. He deserves a round of applause for winning a silver medal in the 50 meter breaststroke, and last night’s bronze in the 100 meter breaststroke.
