
In his message for Thanksgiving, Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga says he is filled with gratitude and a deep sense of appreciation “for the resilient spirit that defines our territory.”
“This year has been marked by both challenges and triumphs, and through it all, the strength of our community has shone brightly,” he stated.
“I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for your devotion to the well-being of American Samoa.”
Governor Lemanu said he is also thankful “for the sense of community that defines us, the support we lend to one another, and the shared vision of a prosperous future.
“May this Thanksgiving bring joy, reflection, gratitude, and may the blessings of this Thanksgiving continue to strengthen our territory.”
He said in conclusion, “On behalf of Lieutenant Governor Talauega E. V. Ale and our families, we wish you all here and abroad a happy and safe, Thanksgiving Day!”
Schools, ASG, Businesses celebrate
In classrooms, government offices and some businesses, the spirit of Thanksgiving is celebrated today with potluck meals and gift giving.
Many schools have been collecting food items, hygienic products and other supplies for the hospital, Hope House, and Territorial Correctional Facility.
In the memo declaring tomorrow a public holiday for Thanksgiving, Governor Lemanu says, “Thanksgiving Day is a time to give thanks for the many blessings that we enjoy.
“I encourage you all to take time to appreciate your families and loved ones, and reflect on all that you are grateful for.
“Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday.”
Tomorrow is an ASG and federal government holiday. Most businesses will also be closed.
