Registration open for Leone’s Annual Turkey Run

Registration for the longest surviving Turkey Run in the territory is now underway.

It’s the Leone High School Annual Turkey Run, which dates back to the 1980’s.

This year’s event is set for next Wednesday, beginning at 5am.

The full course is 3 miles starting from the Leone High School Gym, up to the Alamai Gas Station and down towards Sogi, through Vailoa and back to the Leone High campus.

There are 7 categories:

  • Professional Runners
  • Senior Citizens
  • Power Walkers
  • Queens Division
  • Advisors
  • Students

The top three winners for each category will receive prizes good to eat on Thanksgiving Day.

If school clubs want to register a team its $50. For businesses and government agencies, the team fee is $100. Otherwise, it’s $5 for all participants, except for students and advisors of Leone who will pay $2.

After the run, there will be free Zumba with Erica Afalava.

All proceeds will go towards student activities.

The Leone Student Council  is also collecting hygiene products to be donated to local shelters.
