Team American Samoa (ASA) touched down in Honiara, shortly before midnight, Solomon Islands time, after a smooth flight aboard the Solomon Airlines charter.
The excitement was palpable as over 138 athletes and officials disembarked, ready to represent their nation in the upcoming Pacific Games.
Faafua Cummings, with the Team in Honiara, reports that welcoming the team were officials from the American Samoa National Olympic Committee (ASNOC), with Jasper Kiefer, Trisha and Trevor Kaitu’u, the Chef de mission at the forefront. Their warm reception set the tone for what promises to be an eventful and spirited competition.
A swift 15-minute drive brought the athletes to their camp, situated at the Solomon Islands National University.
Team members were quick to express their satisfaction with the camp facilities. Describing them as beautiful, clean, and safe, the athletes are optimistic that this sets the stage for a successful Games.
As the athletes settle into their temporary home, the focus shifts towards training sessions, strategic planning, and the camaraderie that defines international sporting events. With the backdrop of the University of Solomon Islands, Team American Samoa aims to forge lasting memories and etch their mark in the history of the Pacific Games.
