Time may be running out on the world governing body for soccer, FIFA’s, offer to build a soccer field and facilities in the cleared acreage between the FAA compound and the Veterans Memorial Stadium in Tafuna.
President of the Football Federation of American Samoa, Faiivae Alex Iuli, said that the federation was still awaiting a lease with ASG before the funds can be committed.

This was one of the issues that was discussed during the visit of the FIFA president, Gianni Infantino to the territory in July.

Faiivae indicated that FIFA has been waiting several years for a lease with ASG, and this may be the final year that its offer to build facilities for the sport in the territory may be on the table.

Deputy General Secretary of FIFA, Mattias Grafström, who accompanied President Infantino on his visit to American Samoa, said FIFA is committing development funding for the soccer field and facilities  project.
