The joint Budget and Appropriations Committee reconvened Friday morning to discuss the ASG budget for Fiscal Year 2024.
The outcome of the committee’s deliberations is to approve the budget bill as submitted by the Lemanu Talauega administration.
An earlier decision by the committee to approve just the first quarter budget for LBJ Hospital, based on the FY2023 budget, has been changed. Lawmakers have decided to approve the budget amount for the hospital that was in the original budget bill submitted by the administration of $85 million. The budget amount that the hospital submitted to the Fono was $97 million.
The total ASG budget for the new fiscal year, which begins October 1st, is $664.9 million.
Each chamber votes on the budget bill separately. The House approved its version of the budget bill in second reading on Friday.
