Last week, KHJ News ran a story on the Top 10 private employers in American Samoa based on information from the Second Quarter Performance report of the Department of Commerce.
GHC Reid, was ranked #9 with 50 employees. However, according to the company, the DOC information is not accurate.
The Reid Group includes four companies that all have the same owners, same board of directors, and same CEO.
The companies are GHC Reid, Samoa Motors, Peter E. Reid Stevedoring, and Vaimalu Water.
If the employment of the four companies is combined, it totals 127 full-time workers, making the Reid Group the third largest private employer on island.
The Reid Group includes some of the longest-existing private companies in the territory.
GHC Reid has been serving the territory for 116 years, Peter Reid Stevedoring has been in operation for 56 years, Samoa Motors has been in business for 49 years, and Vaimalu is the baby of the group with 18 years of bottled water manufacturing experience.
Board Member Leone Peter Reid III told KHJ News, “Reid Group is very, very, proud of its large and loyal workforce and our long service to the community!”
