The Office of Vital Statistics has stopped the issuance of American Samoa ID Cards because it has run out of special paper used to produce the identification cards.

Director of Homeland Security Samana Semo Veavea apologizes for the inconvenience and acknowledges that staff should’ve been diligent in ensuring that supplies were sufficient to avoid the disruption.

A notice from the Office of Vital Statistics says they will notify the public as soon as they can resume issuing the ID cards. All other services provided by the office such as issuing birth and death certificates is continuing as usual.
