Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is welcoming notice of several grants from the Office of Insular Affairs’ (OIA) Maintenance Assistance Program (MAP).
In a letter received, Tuesday, from Assistant Secretary for Insular and International Affairs Carmen G. Cantor, to Governor Lemanu P.S. Mauga and Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata, the OIA announced just over $750,000 ($750,280) in three MAP grants.
The largest of the three is $544,780 to the American Samoa Power Authority for the Lineman Training and Development program.
Another grant is $150,000 to the American Samoa Department of Parks and Recreation directed by Kenneth Soala Tupua for the renovations of the Tia Seu Lupe Historical Monument site project, as detailed in a proposal submitted on March 16, 2023. The Tia Seu Lupe Historic Monument was dedicated by Governor Uifa’atali Peter T. Coleman in 1990.
Finally, $55,500 goes to the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority for the Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping and Survey Software & Hardware project.
