For the last two months, the LBJ Hospital has been making gradual improvements to facilities at the territory’s only hospital.

The benches in the ER waiting room have been replaced with new furniture that give it a sitting room atmosphere.

There’s also a new patient restroom in the waiting room area.

Acting CEO of the LBJ Hospital Dr. Akapusi Ledua says the upgrade of the ER is part of the hospital’s efforts to improve patient care delivery.

The upgrade was completed at the end of April.

This month, another triage room and another doctors examination room will be added to the ER to cater for the non-emergency or urgent care patients.

This will replace the Urgent Care Clinic that is using the Medical Clinic from 4-10PM from Monday to Friday and from 12-6PM on Saturday and Sunday.

Dr. Ledua says after the project is complete, the Urgent Care physician will be stationed in the ER.

“Our goal is to reduce the waiting time and allow a more efficient work flow in the ER,” he said. He added, “There are other hospital projects that have either just completed, ongoing or in the planning process.”

A soft opening for the improvements that have been completed is planned for next month.
