The LBJ Board of Directors has extended Dr. Akapusi Ledua’s contract as Acting Chief Executive Officer of the hospital for another 90 days.
Dr. Ledua’s contract expired in April and according to the Consultant to the Board, Dr. Jean Anderson, Ledua’s contract as Acting CEO was extended for another 90 days, expiring in July.
Dr. Ledua had told a Senate hearing that he had accepted a job offer at a hospital in Alaska but some paperwork was being finalized before he took up the offer.
Dr. Anderson said, recently, that the Board has no plans to advertise the CEO position at this stage and Dr. Ledua will continue as Acting CEO until such time that he informs the board he will be leaving.
In other hospital news, KHJ News has learned that only a handful of the 23 nurses from Fiji passed their ASCC Nursing Program exam which is a precursor to the NCLEX, or National Council Licensure Examination, that they are scheduled to sit next month.
Asked about this, Dr. Anderson said the Board and LBJ executive team is working with the head of the ASCC Nursing Program, Lele Ah Mu Mageo and ASCC to confirm “the Fiji nurses that are ready to take the NCLEX soon and those that need a little more preparation.”
She said, all of the Fiji nurses will be taking the NCLEX and “it’s just a matter of who will be taking it first very soon.”
