The Flag Day celebration continues with the Vailima Marist Pago International Sevens, which opens at 10 this morning at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Hosts Marist St. Josephs Sports Club American Samoa held an ava ceremony, last evening, at the Pentagon premises to welcome the team captains, referees, and officials, of the Lakapi Samoa who are here.
Four teams from American Samoa, 11 from Samoa and 1 from New Zealand, are in the tournament with games today and tomorrow. The winner takes home $12,000 and the Governor Lemanu Cup. There are four women teams, two of which are high school teams.
Tournament Director Taupau Alex Mikaele says among top rugby names here for the Sevens tournament are, Manu Samoa Coach Muliaga Brian Lima and Asst. Coach Tausa Faamaoni Lalomilo.
