The Senate has killed a House bill which would have required both the House of Representatives and Senate to approve members of the Board of Directors of the LBJ Hospital.
The Senate voted by a show of hands to reject the bill without any further discussion on the proposed legislation.
Yesterday the Chairman of the Senate Health Committee Sen Tuiasina Dr Salamo Laumoli announced that several senators had expressed their views that there was no need to change the current statute which says that only the Senate approves members of the hospital board.
Senators also felt that there was no need for a hearing on the bill.
The House bill was on the Senate calendar this morning and by a show of hands it was rejected in second reading.
