
The American Youth Football Samoa (AYFS) Matais, who have been selected to represent American Samoa in the 7 on 7 Pylon Tournament (14 Under Division), have arrived in Honolulu.
The tournament is to be held at Farrington High School on April 1st and 2nd.
The team from American Samoa consists of 14 players, coaches and staff.
The Chief of Staff (COS) of the Office of the Governor, Loa Tuimavave T. Laupola, who is currently in Hawai’i, delivered words of encouragement to the young athletes.
“To see you all rise to this great opportunity is a win already,” stated COS Loa. “You have made American Samoa proud by simply being here. On behalf of the Honorable Governor Lemanu Mauga and Honorable Lt. Governor Talauega Ale, we wish you all the best. Play smart, play faithfully and play knowing that all of American Samoa are supporting you, and we look forward to welcoming you home.”
AYFS Commissioner Victor Avalos stated, “AYFS is proud to represent American Samoa and thankful to Governor Lemanu Mauga, Lt. Governor Talauega Ale and the American Samoa Government for their support.
“Thank you to the local businesses and the parents for supporting the youth of American Samoa.”
The team returns home on April 3rd.
