The Board of Directors and executive leadership of the LBJ Hospital have appointed Ms. Rowena P. Reid as the new Director for Human Resources at LBJ.
Ms. Reid was a long time Human Resources Manager at StarKist Samoa, and also the Total Quality Manager and Manager of the Employee Development at the cannery before moving off island.
She graduated from University of Southern California with a Doctorate degree in Education Leadership, Masters of Science in Educational Counseling from Oregon State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from BYU, Hawaii.
Most recently, she was an Assistant Professor in Psychology and Samoan language instructor at BYU, Hawaii.
Acting CEO of LBJ Hospital, Dr. Akapusi Ledua, said that with Ms. Reid’s excellent credentials and experience, “we are grateful and blessed to have her as our new Director of Human Resources at LBJ Hospital.”
The LBJ Comptroller Tulili Tone Maugaotega has been Acting HR Director of the hospital since early January. She took over from Savali Sunia-Ulutu, who was appointed HR Director after Malopao Akenese Nikolao Mutini was removed from the position after 9 years. Sunia-Ulutu was reassigned back to her former job in the Dialysis Clinic, where she is now.
Nikolao-Mutini was put in charge of special projects and public relations, but last month she was put on administrative leave while under investigation.
Over the weekend, she was served a letter of termination with ten days to appeal her removal.
