
One of the major academic competitions on the high school calendar, the Secondary Speech Festival, is being held today at the DYWA Gym in Tafuna.
Eight schools are competing in the various categories of speech and acting, featuring individual, dual and group performances.
Competing in the 2023 event are Fagaitua, Samoana, Faasao Marist, Kanana-Fou, Leone High School, Manu’a High School, Nuuuli Vocational Technical High School, and Tafuna High School.
Tafuna High School has topped the speech festivals in the last two years. The 2020 competition was suspended due to COVID.
Dr. Dottie Tuisamatatele, DOE’s Assistant Director Secondary Division welcomed the performers, judges and parents.

The panel of judges are from the government and private sectors, some of whom were winners of the speech festival when they were in high school.
