
Acting Governor Talauega Eleasalo Ale has reappointed Faamasino Upuese Galoia as Acting Director of the Department of Search and Rescue.
The House confirmed Galoia but the confirmation vote for him in the Senate was short by two votes.
Eight senators voted yes while 7 opposed the nomination.
The 46-year-old Galoia is a US Army veteran, who worked mostly in communications and intelligence while in the military. After returning to the territory in 2021, he worked In the Governor’s Office before he was appointed to head the new Department of Search and Rescue.
