Heart disease is preventable!

That’s the message from medical authorities for February, which has been proclaimed as Heart Month.

Director of the VA Clinic, Dr. Fred Urhle, said risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity, can be reverted through lifestyle changes. For example, stop smoking, and stay away from processed food and sweets.

Dr. Urhle said, while data shows that we’ve reduced the intake of fat by 10-12% in the US over the last 40 years, the incidence of diabetes and heart disease continues to rise.
