The coroner in Samoa has ordered an autopsy on the body of former TV3Samoa General Manager (GM), Aotearoa Pesamino Mayer, to ascertain the cause of death.

TV1Samoa reports that at a press conference on Wednesday, Deputy Police Commissioner, Papalii Monalisa Tia’i-Keti, said that the body is under police custody awaiting the arrival of an officer to conduct the autopsy.

A request has been submitted by Samoa’s Ministry of Police Prisons and Corrections Services to the Fiji Police seeking assistance for their pathologist to travel to Samoa to conduct the autopsy.

Papali’i said, the death is treated as a homicide and under the law homicide is defined as someone that died from an unnatural death, not caused by any illness.

The Deputy Commissioner said that an inquest for Ms. Mayer has been scheduled for July 19, this year.
