With that, First Lady Ella Mauga turned on the switch to light up the main Christmas tree and all the ones that lined the seaside at Matuu and Faganeanea.

The 5th Yellowtown Christmas Lighting ceremony took place last evening, in front of the Matuu & Faganeanea CCCAS Church.

It was well attended by church ministers and parishioners from the Ituau Pulega of the CCCAS, and spectators from across the island.

The beautiful voices of the choirs selected to perform Christmas carols drew applause from the crowd who stayed on to take photos at the magical Yellowtown Christmas village.

On stage, last night, were the CCCAS youth choirs from Ma’ama’a, Nu’uuli, Fagasa, and Nua & Seetaga, and the Pavaiai Methodist Youth.

Youth leader Auzzy Asiata said, their youth has fundraised to buy decorations and lights to host the annual lighting event.

Asiata acknowledged donations from Governor Lemanu and First Lady Ella, Lt. Governor Taluega and his wife, House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale and wife, Ituau representative Manumaua Wayne Wilson and others.

He said, the public responded happily to last night’s program as it does each year with the Yellowtown Christmas program and he thanks American Samoa for always supporting the CCCAS Matu’u and Faganeanea Youth.
