Territory gets ready for Christmas

Advent is the season of preparations for the arrival of baby Jesus. And the government, churches, and villages are gearing up to make the 2022 Christmas season a special and memorable one.

The ASG Christmas Program kicks off at the VA Field in Tafuna on Sunday.

In the 8 years of the Lolo Lemanu administration ASG departments did not take part in the Christmas Program but on this second year of the Lemanu Talauega government, the ASG Christmas program is back. The Governor’s Office says a schedule of the festivities will be released once its finalized. But its four nights from Sunday to Wednesday next week.

Then from Thursday to Saturday is the Holiday Music Festival sponsored by the Amerika Smaoa Council on Arts, Culture and Humanities. This will continue at the VA Field.

Also happening this Sunday, December 4 is the Matuu & Faganeanea YellowTown Christmas lighting ceremony. There’ll be prayers, caroling and the lighting of the Christmas trees lining the seaside in Yellowtown. The ceremony begins at 6pm.

Then December 19-21 is the Department of Education’s Christmas Caroling Program which will include ECE, Elementary and High School choirs on Tutuila, Aunuu and Manu’a. The venue is the Disneyland Castle set up in front of the DOE office in Utulei,

The program for each evening begins at 4 pm.
