A 15-member investor group from South Korea and the US arrived last night on a four day visit to explore
business opportunities in the territory.

Businesses represented on the group are tourism, information technology, health and renewal energy.

The Governor’s Chief of Staff Loa Tuimavave Laupola says the business reps are the ones that Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga met at the Select USA Investment Summit, earlier this year.

In line with the objective of the Select USA Summit, their visit to American Samoa is to explore and take advantage of opportunities to make investment deals.

They head to Manu’a today for a day trip beginning in Ta’u before returning this afternoon.

The visitors will hear and see presentations by the Department of Commerce, American Samoa Visitors Bureau, LBJ Hospital, Department of Health, the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority and the American Samoa Power Authority.

A dinner, by invitation only, will be held this evening at DDW.

An ava ceremony for the group is set for 8am tomorrow at Utulei, then the visitors will tour the former ASG housing site in Tafuna which is slated for IT businesses and the new hospital.

A dinner at the Governor’s residence tops off Wednesday’s program.

The group will golf, see some entertainment and shop local on their last day, before leaving on the Thursday night Hawaiian Air flight.
