The unheard cries of the People for Help continues

Dear Editor,

Oute mua’i fa’atalofa atu Tutuila ma Manu’a i lau fa’afofoga’aga i lenei aso matagofie ile alofa ma le agalelei o lo tatou Tapa’au oi le Lagi. Ae, e asu atu lava mālu i pu’ega i o outou finagalo, ona o lenei taumafaiga; o le fa’aperetania atu. Ma lo’u ava tele lava.

I would like to give God all the praises, glory, and honor for all that He has done for us all. However, I am saddened to see that, no assistance to the residents of Petesa, Happy Valley, and Ottoville has been conducted nor concluded with the “tar sealing smell,” that has been affecting many residents within these areas for years.

Where’s the EPA and the Department of Health in this? This is sad. I saw a Facebook post by a dear friend concerning this matter, and I’m just in awe because this individual has been complaining about the same tar sealing smell for years now, and it seems that nothing has been done since the times of the previous administration.

Now, it seemed that this new administration is also sitting on this health threatening situation? This is so sad. Please, I urge our so called “Leaders of the People” to heed the cries of those that YOU ALL “swore your oaths” to serve. Because, I tell you all…if it wasn’t for the votes of the people; YOU ALL wouldn’t be sitting in your comfy offices today.

The “People” are the ones that YOU ALL are there to serve, not the other way around. Don’t just remember the voters and the people during your Campaigns but, rather, remember them throughout your time in Office. It was their votes that got you folks there.

Ma lo’u ava lava…Fa’afetai tele. Also, I would like to say, “Congratulations to ALL the new Fono Representatives” that won their District’s votes this year of 2022. Fa’amalo le fai ole faiva. Ae, ia fai ina ia lelei atili ma ia solosolo lelei. God bless the people of Tutuila & Manu’a. Soifua.

Best Regards,

Masunu Leala
