
Monday, October 10th, 2022, Columbus/Indigenous Peoples’ Day, will be observed as a holiday for the American Samoa Government.
All government offices will be closed and normal activities will be suspended on that day. ASG employees working that day will be paid holiday wages.
Columbus Day is also a holiday for the federal government.
Most businesses will be closed.
Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga said, “On this day, let us acknowledge the voyage and landing of the Europeans in the New World, while paying homage to the rich history, culture, and traditions of the Native Peoples. I encourage you all to take time this weekend to reflect on the collective experiences and stories, of all those who have helped shape American history.”
