
The number of Covid-19 cases as of August 7 was 8,103 .
The Department of Health report to the Covid-19 Task Force meeting on Tuesday showed there were just 107 active cases while the rest had recovered.
In the one week period from August 8-14, there were 123 new positives. The number of Covid deaths remains at 34…
The age group with the highest number of Covid cases is the 18-30 age group with just under 2000. The one with the second highest is the 31-40 and 41-50 year olds.
Of the active positive cases, numbers have dropped considerably. Tafuna at the top has 30, the only village with double digits while Covid cases in the rest of the villages are single digit.

The number of people turning out to be vaccinated is also dropping. There were just 205 Covid vaccinations for the reporting period: 50 first and 2nd doses and 155 first and second boosters.
As of August 7, 85.3% of the territory’s population were fully vaccinated, 0.3% had only their first shot, 1.8% didn’t have any shots, and 4% were past due for 2nd shots. 8.6% were children under 5 who are not eligible for Covid shots.
Other notes from the Task Force meeting:
- DataHouse, which administers the TalofaPass system is not updating the system in a timely manner.
- It’s recommended that registration on TalofaPass be suspended 24- hours before boarding;
- there’s still the same level of frustration of passengers with the system, though improvements have been made;
- Talofa Airwyas was allowing travelers in board without the required registration and vaccinations,
