The Samoa Government has activated the National Emergency Operations Committee to monitor developments of the volcanic activities at Vailu’ulu’u, Manu’a, American Samoa.
TV1Samoa reports that the Samoa Meteorology Division has been tasked with monitoring developments, with assistance from international weather services, and reporting to NEOC.
Current division head Dr Luteru Tauvale has warned people in low lying areas to be aware of what may develop if volcanic activity increases.
He advises seeking assistance and more information from NEOC if needed.
