Rotary Club of Pago Pago changes leaders

The Rotary Club of Pago Pago’s annual changeover of officers was held last Saturday at the Sadie Thompson Inn.

Past President David Buehler handed the reigns of the club to the new President Katrina Mariner and a new executive.

In keeping with Rotary’s goal of community service above self, the theme of Rotary international changes from “Serve to Change” which was last year’s theme to “Imagine Rotary.”

The festive changeover ceremony celebrated all the Rotarians and their hard work throughout the last 12 months.

Tributes were paid to Honorary Rotarian Joe Yandall, who passed away last April; Rotarian Frank Barron who continues his post as Area Governor for Samoa and American Samoa and Rotarian Creighton Chong recently promoted to Coast Guard Lt. Commander and will be leaving the island for good, soon. Voted as Rotarian of the Year was Moe Hardman.

The night was emceed by Rotarian Joey Cummings, who swayed the evening with laughter and hearty jokes.

Rotary is hosting its annual golf tournament and raffle, this Saturday, to help raise funds for its many community projects.
