An internet service provider in Samoa has been ordered to submit audited financial statements by the Office of the Regulator or face license revocation.

Bluewave Wireless, which had previously done business as NetVo Samoa, has not given financial statements for the period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021, which the Regulator Lematua Gisa Fuatai-Purcell said is necessary for the purpose of calculating Bluewave’s license fees.

“Failure to respond accordingly or to comply with this Order will result in the Office of the Regulator taking appropriate legal action for non-compliance.”

Samoa Observer reports the Bluewave Wireless Chief Operating Officer Togisala Tony Leota, said “no comment” on Tuesday.

The company had come under scrutiny from members of the opposition Human Rights Protection Party during the recent budget debate over a $2million tālā grant, to roll out satellite dish installations in schools on Savai’i for internet connectivity.

The contract was issued as a single source contract causing concern from other companies who had wanted to bid for the work.

One of the principals of the company, Steven Leota had applied for CEO of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority, however, it was discovered that his academic credentials were not what he had indicated in his resume.
