Twelve passengers on Thursday’s Hawaiian Airlines flight from Honolulu tested positive for COVID, triple the number of positives on last week’s flight. There were 257 passengers on the flight, including infants.

Director of Clinical Services at the Department of Health, Dr. Elizabeth Lauvao, says that the positive travelers are now isolated at the airport hangar facility for five days, after which they will be released for a further five days of isolation at home.

Also, at the airport hangar facility, is one traveler from Samoa who tested positive. The traveler arrived on a Samoa Airways flight on Wednesday.

The airport hangar facility is now the only isolation site being used by COVID positive travelers, as the hotels have been reopened to the public.

The facility is 18,400 sq. ft. and has 36 rooms, including a conference room, nurse station, laundry room, kitchen, and dining area.
