Samoa Police have confirmed that they are investigating the deaths of two men, who were shot dead, Thursday afternoon, in the village of Fogapoa on Savai’i island.
Samoa Observer reports— Deputy Commissioner, Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo, confirmed the two deaths adding that after their initial investigations, they confirmed the shootings happened over an alleged land dispute.
He said, a pistol was used in the shooting which is an illegal weapon in Samoa.
Au’apa’au said that the suspect turned himself in to the Tuasivi Police Station in Savai’i, where he is now being detained.
“He hasn’t been charged yet but he is at the Police station for his safety,” he added.
Police from the Apia Police Station are heading to Savai’i on Friday morning, to assist with investigations.
