A small aiga bus landed on the beach in Fatumafuti, yesterday evening.
Information from an eye witness said that a truck was overtaking the bus in a prohibited zone and hit the front left tires of the aiga bus, causing it to swerve off the road and roll to the beach side of the road.
When residents went to see what happened after hearing a loud noise, the driver was still in the bus but the only passenger, a man, was sitting by the side of the bus. He had climbed out after the bus came to a stop.
The driver stated that he had pain in his right leg and he also had an open cut on his head.
Bystanders came by and were told not to come close and not to touch anything.
The accident also damaged the Fatumafuti bus stop.
EMS were at the scene within 5 minutes and police were also quick to respond.
Police located the truck which hadn’t stopped after the accident, later in the evening.
