A convoy of motorcycles, big tire trucks and other customized vehicles made their way to the EMS station at Tafuna and the Tafuna police substation this morning, bearing gifts.

They were presenting food and drinks to police and EMS personnel in recognition of EMS and DPS Appreciation Week, which ends this weekend.

A variety of local motor clubs banded together on the effort. Clubs such as Sau I’a Motorcycle Club, Manulele Tausala Club, Le Uso Club, Island Pride, Non-Profit Organization Wired To Your Future, DJ Sentinol and Heavy Duty Club.

The group presented trays of fire roasted Huli Huli chicken, trays of taro, and cases of water and soda.

The President of the Sau I’a Motorcycle Club, Peter Reid, thanked EMS and DPS saying, “We appreciate all the hard work the first responders do, have done and will keep doing for our local communities, we are grateful and appreciative for their public service.”

The donations were received with open arms by both the DPS Substation and the EMS Station in Tafuna.

The Motor Clubs of American Samoa comprise members from different clubs and villages with different taste and flavors of customizing their rides.

“There are tall cars, slammed cars, loud cars, horns, lights. They can sound like a Las Vegas casino slot machine room when they pass by. It’s fun and it’s interesting.”

Aaron Hall of the Heavy Duty Car Club says, “Having custom cars and trucks are fun and what’s interesting is we are from different walks of life but the one thing that brings us together is our love for custom vehicles if it be cars, trucks, motorcycles or even bicycles this common factor drives us together.”

“Another common factor is the love for our community and that’s what drives us to give back to our people we believe to live your best life and along the way share the love with others.”

The presentation ended with a last round about motorcade by the clubs at the EMS station showing off their best features.

Earlier this month, the group donated plate lunches for health workers at the LBJ Hospital.
