The outbound Hawaiian Airlines flight on Thursday was packed and, in fact, passengers who were on standby weren’t able to get a seat.

KHJ News received confirmation that House Speaker Savaii Talavou Ale and House representatives, who were to attend the meeting of the American Samoa Government Employees Retirement Fund in Las Vegas, were unable to get on the flight.

The Chairman of the House Retirement Committee, Rep. Samuel Meleisea, Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee Vailiuama Steve Leasiolagi, and Legislative Counsel and director of the Legislative Reference Bureau Nathaniel Savaii were supposed to attend the meeting as well, but couldn’t because they couldn’t find seats.

Senate President Tuaolo Manaia Fruean, Chairman of the Retirement Fund Board, Budget Committee Chairman Utu Sila Poasa and Senate Counsel Mitzie Jessop Taase, made last night’s flight.

The Director of the Retirement Fund Office, I’aulualo Talia Faafetai and members of the board managed to get seats.
