Samoa is now requiring travelers from American Samoa to be quarantined for up 21 days. Since the pandemic travelers from the territory to Apia have not been subject to quarantine.

In a special travel advisory issued yesterday, the Ministry of Health provides the revised conditions for intending travelers from the territory.

The ministry says “COVID-19 Variants affecting our region and the global communities are noted with much concern, hence our Border control efforts are elevated and strictly enhanced.”

All passengers entering Samoa from Pago Pago will go into quarantine for at least 14 days or as determined by the Ministry of Health.

If they test positive in quarantine they will stay for up to 21 days or more.

While travelers from the United States are still banned from entering Samoa, the advisory sets out conditions to allow Samoan citizens and residents to return home.

“All travelers from outside of American Samoa must spend 21 days or more in American Samoa post quarantine before traveling to Samoa,” states the MOH advisory.

Any passenger arriving within the 21 day period will be denied entry and returned back to American Samoa.

All children under 12 years must complete the prescribed two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine before they are permitted to travel.

The MOH also advises that all travelers will be assessed on a case-by-case basis before being granted permission to travel to Samoa.

All travelers 12 years and above including flight crew must be pfully vaccinated with the prescribed 2 doses, with the exception of Janssen vaccine, before entry into Samoa with any COVID-19 vaccine and preferably vaccines already pre-qualified by the World Health Organization (AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Janssen-single dose, Moderna, Sinopharm,).

All COVID 19 PCR test results, genomic sequencing test and Serology tests must be submitted via email to Director General of Health on email ceo@health.gov.ws and Dr Robert Thomsen email robertt@health.gov.ws
