Beginning with the March Hawaiian Airlines flight, covid tests in Honolulu and quarantine stay in American Samoa would no longer be free for all travelers.
The Covid-19 Task Force meeting yesterday made the decision to begin charging for the covid tests in Honolulu and charge $200 for quarantine in the territory.
At present three Covid tests are required prior to leaving Hawaii. However the Task Force is removing the test that’s done 10 days before departure. The only tests that will be required are 5 days and 48 hours before departure. The mandatory 10 day stay in Honolulu is being removed.
The new rules would kick in for the March 10 flight.
Other issues that were discussed is penalties for unruly behavior, threatening staff or trying to leave quarantine sites before being authorized by health authorities.
All travelers will be informed to expect a stay of up to 21 days in quarantine which may be shorted depending on test results.
The next Hawaiian Airlines flight is this Thursday and more than 300 passengers are expected.
Due to limited quarantine sites, inter Samoa fights remain suspended.
