Super Bowl LVI is history with the LA Rams sliding by the Cincinnati Bengals, 23-20.

Other than the action on the field and the hip hop, R&B half time show, an ad during the championship battle showing two of our very own is the talk of the island and social media.

Samoana High School graduate Yasminna Sanchez and her grandmother Mrs Etenauga Lutu of Utulei were featured on a Google pixel ad.

Reached last night, Yasminna said she signed a non disclosure agreement with Google for the ad, but she was still able to answer a few questions.

“I was with my church group’s Super Bowl party when the ad came on and they were all hyped, it was so funny, I wish I recorded their reactions.

“I felt really embarrassed because the TV screen was so big it felt like you could see every little detail. Immediately my phone started going off with people texting me, “Did I just see you in the Super Bowl?!?!?”

She said, “It was a crazy experience and I feel excited but slightly embarrassed that millions of people around the world saw it.”

Yasminna who is a second year student at  the University of California at San Diego adds, “The only other thing I have to say is that I’m grateful to God for this random and blessed opportunity and even more grateful that I got to have my grandma be a part of it as a way to bond with her and also help my family out financially.

“I’m happy to represent who I am and where I’m from even if it’s just for 3 seconds on a Super Bowl commercial but hopefully this isn’t where it ends.”

She and her grandma actually arrived for the photo shoot 15 minutes late. We’ll report on that part and how they were selected later.
