Plans to deliver the cash and supplies donated for Tonga are still being finalized according to the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Tuimavave Tauapa’i Laupola.
He said the supplies collected in the ASG initiated Humanitarian Relief Drive for Tonga is being Coordinated with the local Tonga Community and the donations will be sent together.
The donated items include canned and dr food items, clothing, bedding, cooking utensils, school supplies and other necessities.
“ASG’s 3-containers have been manifested to be shipped this weekend,” said Tuimavave.
Rev Tevita Para, a leader of the Tongan churches had said in an earlier interview the containers would be leaving on the vessel Papuan Chief in the middle of this month.
Details on how the cash donations will be sent to Tonga, reeling from the effects of a volcanic eruption and tsunami last month, have not been finalized, said Tuimavave.
The tally from the two-week drive was $532,994.50
