Dear Editor,

Greetings. You are ever so kind to hear my grievances; however, I am writing you today, concerning a letter from Governor Lemanu to the Speaker of the Lower House of the Fono, Talavou Ale, sent on the 12th of January, 2022.

In this letter, the Governor demanded all emails from the constituents addressed to their representatives be sent straight to his office, from now on!

Can you enlighten me please with which section of the by-laws in our American Samoa Constitution that grants the governor the right to send such order and lord it over the Legislative branch?

For your information Sir, the Constitution was founded upon the blood of our forefathers who are laid from their graves, crying out to our people for justice to be sustained! Therefore, not one jot or tittle of this Law by no means shall be removed by any man, so help us God!!!

With all due respect, dear Governor, no one is above the Law of the Land, not even you Sir!

In fact, the Constitution was created to serve the constituents who voted all you officials to serve the people of the land! Moreover, the government get its powers from the consent of the people. Therefore, the government for the people by the people are answerable to the people.

The tri-partite form of government are three branches in one. The Executive, the Legislative and the Judicial are one entity, each branch with equal and separate powers to support one another.

This letter calls upon every citizen of the land, to rise and speak up, protect your freedom and liberty stated by your Constitution.

It is time to take a stand, and shut the door to every illegal act. People of American Samoa, where is our allegiance to preserve justice, to love our country and to honor our God above all,

Amen!
Indeed, my coconut tree does not
sway, unless there is a
wind ruffling my
coconut space…

Good day to you Editor, thank you again.
Fatumalala L. A.
