Taylor Farms Northwest hopes to hire 25/month

The food company in Washington State that’s been hiring from American Samoa is actually looking for many more workers than a story we aired earlier this month indicated.

An official of Taylor Farms Northwest, David Lawrence, said they are looking to hire about 20 people per month from the territory. Our story said they were looking to hired up to 25 employees total.

The company has a large number of Pacific Islander employees and has been hiring directly from American Samoa since August of 2021. Taylor Farms Northwest is one of 29 companies in the Taylor family of businesses employing over 22,000 employees in USA, Mexico and Canada.

Hourly wages are $16.59 an hour while the hourly rate for overtime work $24.75.

Hiring ads for Taylor Farms Northwest which have been aired on 93KHJ and V103 say thw company advances money to employees to travel to the mainland and it also provides a temporary place for them to live.
