US food producer recruiting from Am Samoa

A major food producer in Washington State, Taylor Farms Northwest is looking to hire more workers from American Samoa.

The company has a large number of Samoan employees and has been hiring directly from the territory for a number of years. There are 35 companies under Taylor Farms Northwest and the company generates $2.82 million in sales anually.

The company is currently running recruitment ads on 93 KHJ and V103.

KHJ News talked with attorney Aaron Warren about their local hiring.

He said that they are looking to recruit about 25 people from the territory.

Taylor Farms offer a starting wage of $16.50 an hour, while overtime work will be paid $24.75 an hour.

The ads feature Samoan workers inviting potential hires to join their team and promoting the benefits of working at Taylor Farms.

According to the ads, the company advances money to employees to travel to the mainland and it also provides a temporary place for them to live.
