Customs needs to treat our mail with care

Dear Editor,

Last Saturday, December 11, 2021, at around 12:30 PM, I went to get my mail and packages at USPS. Passed by the Customs, and the Customs guy sliced open the plastic package with his knife.

Guess what? My mattress protector, which I ordered and paid online, was damaged by the knife cut. I got a “sorry” though. I understand Customs Laws and law enforcement, and we are law-abiding residents of American Samoa, but people’s properties should be handled with care and respect.

I am writing this letter, hoping that the unfortunate incident will not happen again to other people. Thank you.

Sincerely,
E. James Desiderio
