Governor Lemanu and Lt Governor Talauega have continued the TAOA Christmas Party which was started by former Governor Lolo Moliga when Lemanu was Lt Governor.

Over 900 senior citizens , dressed in their finest, filled the DWYA gym last Thursday for the 2021 party for senior citizens.

The Governor and Lt Governor and their wives, cabinet members and staff of the Governor’s Office  helped TAOA  Director Evelyn Lili’o Satele and staff serve the elderly fathers and mothers lunches and distributed Christmas presents for each one. All ASG departments donated gifts for the TAOA Christmas party.

Governor Lemanu said in his remarks to the guests of honor, “You all are the treasures of our society. You are the link to the past, present, and future. You have seen the pace of progress throughout decades, and you possess knowledge and history that is invaluable. You are senior members of the family who know better about the FaaSamoa, genealogy, religion, family history, values, and related customary practices. Every day your families have a chance to celebrate your lives. Today, the Lieutenant Governor and I, along with the cabinet, get to celebrate you and also to celebrate the birth of Christ.”

The Governor used the occasion to promote the Covid vaccination drive. “I do want to remind and ask every one of you to get your COVID-19 vaccination shots. If you do not get vaccinated, then your children, grandchildren, and families will not get vaccinated.”

TAOA highlights of 2021:

● transfer of TAOA meal centers from halls to restaurant-based settings,
● improvement of transportation services for disabled seniors, and
● creation of certified caregiver courses for home caregivers.

Earlier in the week , First Lady Ella Mauga and Mrs Marian Ale, wife of Lt Governor Talauega presented gifts at Hope House and the LBJ Hospital, following a practice from the last administration.
