Bail is set at $70,000 for a man accused of raping his 16 year old biological daughter starting from when she was 13.
The defendant faces a total of 11 charges including multiple counts of incest, sodomy, and first degree sexual abuse,
The alleged offenses came to light when an aunt of the victim reported to police on November 24 that her niece had been raped by her father.
The girl had run away from home unable to stand multiple times when her father would force himself on her and shared her story with her grandmother, who then told the aunt.
The girl said the rape incidents started in 2018 when her mother had gone to Samoa.
The girl said on November 21 she wasn’t able to take it anymore, both physically and mentally and she was having suicidal thoughts, so she ran away from home to her grandmother’s.
After the aunt reported the incidents, police contacted the girl’s mother, her sister, to come to the police statio.
According to the mother, when her daughter told her about what her father was doig to her, she couldn’t bring herself to believe her. But when the girl ran away from home, she finally had the courage to ask her husband. He admitted to having a sexual relationship with their daughter.
When the defendant went to the police station later that evening for questioning. he admitted to having deviate sex with his daughter. He claimed he was intoxicated and he was possessed by the devil, who made him do it,
The father had his initial appearance in District Court earlier this week and faces a preliminary examination today.
