Members of the American Samoa Chamber of Commerce are asking the Covid 19 task force to take into consideration the impacts on their businesses and employees in the planned lockdown for Covid vaccinations.

The tentative dates for the lockdown which will be similar to the one Samoa had last month are December 1, 2 and 3.

Some businesses had enforced full vaccination of their workers early on and are worried that their employees would be negatively affected with loss of pay. Businesses are asking if there’s any assistance from ASG in this regard.

Members of the Chamber have been informed that the shutdown on the three days will be from 8am to 4 and movements will be restricted on the road.

At the weekly Task Force meeting members of the private sector expressed some of their concerns on how the shutdown will impact their operations, employees, and their services for customers and public.

A meeting with the Chamber of Commerce to discuss this further is planned for 9 this morning at the Dept of Homeland Security conference room.
