Palolo was sighted last night in some parts but it was a light showing.

About 150 hunters turned out at one of the popular hunting spots, Alega Beach last night.

Before midnight the parking on both sides of the road in Alega was tight.

“We saw more Palolo tonight than last night, but e liu suavai…it was watery,”:said Tisa Faamuli.

It was around 1am, just as the moon showed its face from under the clouds that the worm made an appearance. Most were in the water about midnight and were still looking for the elusive palolo around 5 am.

Tisa predicts the main swarming of the palolo is tonight.

Rough waters presented a challenge for palolo hunters on boats.

Tisa said she spoke with boat fisherman, Dustin Snow, last night and he said there was no palolo at the airport. It was too rough for his boat to go out.

From Savaii, an experienced fisherman, Gale Siaosi of Vaisala told KHJ News that cars from Falealupo and Sataua had started returning home early indicating little or no rising.

He said looking out to the reef it seems the tide has come in too early indicating a later tide tomorrow morning and possibly heavier rising of the delicacy. At the time of this bulletin there were no palolo sellers at the Apia Fish Market.
