Husband gets 12 months probation for punching wife

A 45-year-old taxi driver has been sentenced to 12 months probation and fined $150 for assaulting his wife and endangering his young children.
 
Samoa News reports the man had been intoxicated when he punched his wife in the face multiple times, pulled her hair and kicked her in the back.
 
He apologized to the court for his actions and promised never to do I again to his wife and children.
 
The defendant was initially charged with public peace disturbance, endangering the welfare of a child, and third degree assault.
 
In a plea agreement with the government, the defendant pled guilty to third degree assault, and the remaining charges were dismissed.
 
The defendant further admits that his actions not only injured his wife but also put his child’s life at risk.
 
He also apologized to his wife and kids and promised that this would never happen again.
 
The Court accepted the defendant’s apology and then placed him on probation for 12 months under certain conditions.
 
He is ordered to remain alcohol and drug free, must submit to random testing and must refrain from harassing or threatening his wife and children.

He is also ordered to attend and complete anger management classes.
